Seasonal Ordering at The Magpie Bakery
Seasonal items and order windows change. Use Magpie's live services for what is verified now; a dated campaign appears here only after its details are confirmed.
No dated campaign is published right now
This page does not guess at products, deadlines, or pickup windows. Current seasonal choices may still appear on the live menus below.
How seasonal ordering actually works
Magpie splits seasonal and holiday ordering across three paths so nothing on this website ever promises something the kitchen can't deliver. Each path has one job:
- Today belongs to the live menu. Whatever seasonal bakes are in the case right now — and whatever can be ordered for same-day pickup — appears on the live same-day menu, nowhere else. If it's listed there, it's real today.
- Planned dates belong to a conversation. When you need a holiday pickup or a pre-order for a set date, send the date through the contact form or call the bakery — nothing is confirmed until Magpie says yes.
- Designs belong to the custom inquiry. A holiday-themed cake or a seasonal design that isn't a stock product starts as a conversation through the custom-cake inquiry, where the bakery confirms feasibility for your date before anything is promised.
The How to Order page lays out all three paths side by side if you're not sure which one your plans need.

Plan a future pickup
Ordering ahead for a holiday or a set date happens right here on this website: send your date and list through the contact form, or call the bakery, and Magpie confirms the pickup window with you directly.
The Magpie year, season by season
None of the below is a menu — it's the general rhythm the case tends to follow through the year, always subject to what the live menus actually list:
- Spring leans lighter and brighter — floral and citrus notes creep into the rotation, and Easter and Mother's Day weekends are among the busiest of the first half of the year.
- Summer is fruit season and cold-drink season. The café's iced drinks do their hardest work, and celebration orders shift toward graduations and showers.
- Fall builds toward pie season. Warm-spice bakes take over the case, and Thanksgiving is the single biggest order-ahead moment of the bakery year — the one week where planning early matters most.
- Winter is holiday-baking season: festive cookies, celebration cakes, and Christmas pickups, with Valentine's Day closing out the stretch before spring starts the cycle again.
The menu page covers the categories that anchor the case in every season.

Planning a holiday pie pickup
Holiday pies are the clearest example of how the system works: the bakery confirms its lineup and pickup windows, takes orders directly by phone and the contact form, and the window closes when capacity is reached. We wrote the Holiday Pie Order-Ahead Guide to walk through that timeline — when windows tend to open, why small bakeries cap orders, and how to make sure a Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert is locked in rather than hoped for.

Good to know
Questions, answered
How far ahead can I order holiday pies or desserts from Magpie?
Planned pickups are arranged directly with the bakery — send your date through the contact form or call, and Magpie confirms what it can make for that day. Small-batch bakeries cap holiday orders, so reaching out early is the safest move. The Holiday Pie Order-Ahead Guide on this site walks through the whole rhythm.
Why doesn't this page list the current seasonal menu?
Because the case rotates and holiday lineups are finalized close to the date. Rather than publish a list that goes stale, this page points to the live sources: the same-day menu at magpiebakerytogo.com for what's available now, and the bakery itself — by phone or contact form — for confirmed dated windows.
Can Magpie make a holiday-themed custom cake?
Holiday and seasonal designs go through the custom-cake inquiry, where you share the date, serving count, and design idea and the bakery confirms what it can take on for that window. Start the inquiry well before a major holiday, since those weeks fill fastest.
Do bakery hours change around the holidays?
Regular hours are posted on the Visit page and in the sidebar of every page. Around major holidays, confirm by calling (973) 291-6756 or checking the ordering sites before making a special trip.
