The Magpie is also Bloomingdale's neighborhood café, serving coffee alongside iced teas, matcha, and the croissants, donuts, cinnamon rolls, and savory hand pies shown in the changing bakery case.
Order at the counter, then take your time in front of the case — it rotates with the seasons and with what came out of the oven that morning, so the lineup you loved last Saturday may share the shelf with something brand new this week. That rotation is the point: everything is baked fresh, and there's always a reason to look again.

Melanie Stripeikis
Melanie Stripeikis is the owner of The Magpie Bakery. The bakery's own story describes a path that was 30 years in the making; learn more on the About page.
Those years show up in how the shop runs day to day: everything is baked from scratch on site, the case follows the seasons instead of a fixed printed list, and custom cakes get real one-on-one attention from the first inquiry to the moment the box is handed over.
The name fits, too. A magpie collects bright little treasures, and the bakery is built in that spirit — a case full of small, shiny, worth-collecting things, gathered fresh each morning.
